Job Description About the role At General Motors, we are proud to offer a vast array of career development resources to help you develop, grow, and make the most of your career at GM. As a Senior System Design Engineer , you will help us define, design, and lead the System Design and Technical Specifications for automated driving technologies and AV. In this position, you will have the chance to work at the intersection of System, Architecture, Hardware, Software, and automated driving technology and have a hand in the early stages of GM`s next generation vehicles. Leads and generates technical solutions including specifying of requirements, functional decomposition, analysis, development and testing for current, new and major programs Performs as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for at least AV/ADAS feature Leads development of software system team design content and software anomaly corrections. Migrates existing tests into automated pipelines in partnership with software team Supports on-bench and on-vehicle integration issue investigation for AV serial data in SDV2 Visibility: at the site/team level Performs other related duties as assigned Responsibilities Leads and generates technical solutions including specifying of requirements, functional decomposition, analysis, development and testing for current, new and major programs Design systems interfaces and requirements, including detailed design development and validation using Protobufs and Feature Files Lead development of software system team design content and software anomaly corrections. Performs complex design analysis Specifies and balances system requirements Provide, communicate, and support common best practices among software community. Performs as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for at least one platform or application component Develop, maintain, and produce technical documentation and system/solution specifications with tools such as DNG, Rhapsody, Jira, Jama, GitHub, Confluence and Visual Studio Lead FMEA and the allocation of identified failure modes to execution teams Apply solid technical understanding, critical reasoning and a structured approach to solving problems in both familiar and unfamiliar domains Participate with cross functional development team (System, SW) discussions to ensure alignment with peers and downstream customers in the product execution side of the business Requirements 5 or more years of experience with automotive or similar electronic modules and/or systems engineering Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field Demonstrated proficiency in writing and comprehending software and hardware requirements and interfaces Experience with requirement management tools such as DOORS, DNG, JAMA etc. High level of oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with colleagues local and at remote sites Comfortable with ambiguity and has a passion to shape the future Strong technical leadership skills and an ability to work in a highly collaborative environment Creative, disciplined, strong sense of responsibility, delivery and schedule commitment Preferred Skills 10 or more years of automotive experience Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field Experience with Python, C, C++ or equivalent Experience with automotive simulation (Applied Intuition, Carsim, etc) Experience working on L2+ AV products Previous integration experience (sim/vehicle/bench) 



This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week {or other frequency dictated by their manager}.
