COVER LETTERS

Cover letters that start from the job description

ROLIVA generates a cover-letter draft for a specific role from that role’s description and only the facts you have confirmed, by fixed rules. Then you review and edit it, and you decide whether to send it.

How the draft is made

01

It starts from the job description

When you prepare an application pack for a role saved in your applications, ROLIVA reads that posting’s requirement lines and the skills it names, and puts the requirements it can match with your evidence first.

02

It uses only facts you have confirmed

The examples in the letter come from the experience you reviewed and confirmed in your career profile, up to three of them, in your own wording. ROLIVA does not add skills, employers or results you have not confirmed. If you have not confirmed any work experience yet, it does not draft a letter at all.

03

It is drafted by fixed rules

The letter is generated automatically by fixed drafting rules, not written for you by a person. The opening, closing and linking sentences are standard wording; the evidence sentences are your own. That is why it is a starting point, not a finished letter.

04

You edit it before sending

Every draft is marked for your review and is never sent by ROLIVA. Read it, change the wording, add why this employer matters to you, and confirm it. If you use the browser Companion, it fills in only a letter you have reviewed and confirmed, and you submit the application yourself.

A cover letter structure that works

  1. Greeting. Address the hiring team, or the person named in the posting if there is one.
  2. Opening. Name the role and the employer in the first sentence. Mention a referral only if it is real and the person agreed.
  3. Evidence. Pick two or three requirements from the job description and give one confirmed example for each: what you did, its scope and a result you can support.
  4. Why this employer. One or two specific sentences based on the posting or the employer’s own material, never generic praise.
  5. Close. Ask for a conversation, thank the reader and sign off with your name. Keep the whole letter to one page.

Example structure with placeholders

Dear [Employer] hiring team,

I am applying for the [Job title] role at [Employer]. The posting highlights [requirement 1] and [requirement 2], both of which are part of my experience.

At [Organisation], I [a confirmed example of your work that matches requirement 1, in your own words]. I also [a second confirmed example, with its scope and a result you can support].

[One or two sentences on why this team or product, based on something specific in the posting or the employer’s own material.]

I would welcome a conversation about how this experience could support [Employer]’s work. Thank you for your consideration.

Kind regards,
[Your name]

Everything in [square brackets] is a placeholder. There is no real applicant, employer or result in this example.

Before you send it

Application packs, which include the cover-letter draft, count towards your plan’s monthly allowance. Current allowances are on the pricing page. A letter cannot guarantee an interview, and ROLIVA does not claim it will.
