Assistant Manager - controllership

We are looking for an experienced Finance Controllership professional to join our Corporate Finance team. In this role you will own end-to-end accounting and reporting across both internal and external requirements — working under IFRS and Indian GAAP — while leading a broad array of planning projects and process improvement initiatives that directly support OakNorth's growth ambitions.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Own day-to-day accounting, month-end closing, and periodic reporting in accordance with IFRS and Indian GAAP.

Manage end-to-end accounting, valuation, and bank reconciliations for complex financial instruments including Investments, Borrowings, Loans, Deposits, and Derivatives (hedging compliance).

Prepare Balance Sheet and P&L items including prepayments, accruals, depreciation runs, intercompany entries, and other month-end journals.

Lead Fixed Assets and Intangible accounting, related schedules, and physical verifications; maintain General Ledger, vendor, and bank reconciliations.

Support Statutory and Internal audits, preparing schedules, responding to auditor queries, and drafting internal notes/memos for approvals and audit evidence.

Drive process standardisation and automation using data tools and AI-enabled solutions in treasury and accounting workflows; draft and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (FP&A, Operations, Legal, Credit/Portfolio Monitoring, Treasury, and the business) to identify process improvement opportunities and enhance the control environment.

Prepare test scenarios and perform testing for system automation projects; assist with ad hoc projects as required.

YOU'LL BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU HAVE…

CA (Fresher)/CPA/MBA in Finance with 1-5 years of progressive experience demonstrating strong accounting expertise and advanced financial analytical skills.

Strong Microsoft Excel and MS Office skills with a focus on reporting automation; ability to prioritise and manage multiple workflows simultaneously.

Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working across multiple functions and geographies in a fast-paced organisation.

Self-driven, proactive, and results-oriented mindset with a continuous improvement outlook; comfortable operating at scale with a hands-on attitude and big-picture thinking.

Nice to Have

Background in the banking or financial services sector.

Experience with or interest in data automation tools such as Python/Pandas or VBA for automating reconciliations and reporting processes.
