REPORTS TO
Technical Principal or any other person appointed to supervise him/her from time to time.
PRIMARY POSITION PURPOSE
Provide and undertake complex design modelling and production tasks, prepare tender/construction documents and provide technical support services in meeting the requirements of the functional group and its clients.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
3D Modelling, detailing and quality audits on outgoing drawings/ models
BIM implementation
Standardisation of all drawings on project
Develop Autodesk templates/ Libraries, tools processes to maintain standards
Participating in office technical discussions and project delivery meetings
Mentor, train and provide technical support to junior staff
Conducting conceptual and detailed design and drafting in order to prepare technical drawings and documentation

Provide practical and economical solutions to project deliverables
Applying a deeper understanding of modelling principles to devise and deliver practical and economical solutions to problems
Maintain a high level of Computer Aided Drawing (CAD) and modelling expertise and engineering knowledge
Undertake supervisor role and lead on projects
Coordination of multi-disciplinary work on projects
Contribute to the overall utilisation, management and profitably of the functional group
Ensure drawings and documentation are to the highest quality
Maintain client satisfaction
Strictly adhere to SMEC’s Management System (MS), quality standards and OHS procedures
Assist Project Managers with site queries and reporting solutions
Parametric Modelling
Model Federation and rendering development
Automation and coding
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
To work independently and self-motivated to produce accurate drawings to a high standard within set deadlines
Be responsible for ensuring quality model and drawing outputs across all regions within the function
Be responsible for growing the BIM capability within the team
Prepare to travel and remain out of South Africa for short periods, liaise with client representative and consultants from other disciplines.

Accuracy of drawings and models while meeting set deadlines.
Ability to work independently
Identifies and understands technical issues, problems and opportunities
Project delivery to meet client’s ToR/ BEP
Development of networks and contribution to team goals
Commercial awareness
Technical support and mentoring
ISO-19650 Understanding
RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Professional Registration in Draughting (Autodesk Certified) in Civil Engineering Projects. (Bulk Water & Sewer)
Minimum of 10 years of professional experience
Minimum of 5 years in similar position
Some key experience in relevant Water Infrastructure projects
Proficiency in Revit, C3D, QGIS, and any other discipline associated software essential
ACC / BIM360 and Projectwise Proficiency
Modelling and Detailing to LOD 400-500
Experience working on major infrastructure/ building projects
