I&AWM Finance Solutions Director
About the role
To sustain growth and broaden the I&AWM Finance Solutions business, we are seeking an experienced Director from the external market who can lead the full client lifecycle - originating opportunities, shaping the proposition and architecture, mobilising the right capabilities across PwC, and remaining accountable through delivery and value realisation. This is a senior market-facing role for someone who creates opportunities, builds trusted relationships and converts those relationships into high-value, multi-phase transformation programmes.
The Director will act as a Finance Business Architect: understanding the client business model and strategic agenda, translating this into an integrated Finance transformation response, and connecting functional depth with controls, technology, data and AI, organisation design and service delivery. A critical part of the role is shaping how Data, AI and agentic capabilities change Finance processes, controls, roles and decision-making, working across the technology ecosystem while keeping the Finance outcome at the centre.
The role is also important to building the next generation of the team: developing people, codifying methods and assets, strengthening our Communities of Practice and ensuring our propositions and delivery capability evolve with the market.
This role demands a strong blend of commercial leadership, Finance Business Architecture, deep sector and functional expertise, Data and AI fluency, and people leadership.
What your days will look like:
- Originate, shape, sell and deliver complex Finance transformation opportunities across I&AWM, leading senior client interactions from the initial problem statement through solution architecture, mobilisation, delivery and value realisation.
- Act as a Finance Business Architect, translating enterprise strategy and the client business model into an integrated Finance target operating model spanning process, controls, technology, data and AI, organisation and workforce, and service delivery.
- Lead agentic process re-engineering across Finance: identify where AI agents, automation and human judgement should reshape end-to-end processes; define the required controls, data, roles and governance; and connect these changes into the wider enterprise architecture.
- Own the Finance Solutions demand into the Data and AI ecosystem, working with other areas of our business, hyperscalers, data platforms and frontier AI providers to develop Finance-specific propositions, reference architectures, use cases, assets and delivery patterns.
- Lead multi-tower Finance Transformation programmes across Insurance and Asset & Wealth Management, connecting R2R, P2P, O2C, Performance Management, Treasury and Tax with the wider enterprise transformation agenda.
- Bring deep understanding of insurer and asset / wealth management business models and value drivers, ensuring Finance transformation aligns to product, investments, actuarial, capital, risk, operations and technology change rather than being designed in isolation.
- Originate and expand C-suite relationships with CFOs, Finance Directors, Group Financial Controllers and transformation leaders, converting initial conversations into multi-phase, high-value programmes and new Finance Solutions revenue pools.
- Orchestrate the wider PwC ecosystem - including ERP practices, Cloud, Data & AI practices, specialist Finance technology, Workforce, Risk & Modelling and Tax - while retaining coherence of the Finance solution and accountability for the client outcome.
- Build and develop a high-performing team through coaching, sponsorship, feedback, capability development and active career support; develop future leaders and strengthen the I&AWM Finance Solutions community.
- Develop and industrialise Finance Solutions IP, including points of view, reference architectures, methods, assets and accelerators, and use these to strengthen propositions, client conversations and delivery quality.
This role is for you if:
- An established Director-calibre Finance transformation leader from the external market, with the presence and credibility to lead senior client relationships from origination through delivery and a track record of creating and converting opportunities.
- A strong Finance Business Architect who can connect strategy, business model and enterprise transformation to the detailed Finance operating model, with depth across process, controls, technology, data and AI, organisation and workforce, and service delivery.
- Demonstrable understanding and experience of Data and AI-enabled Finance transformation, including an understanding of the hyperscaler / data-platform / frontier-model ecosystem and how agentic process re-engineering changes Finance process, controls, data, roles and governance.
- Deep knowledge of Finance functional areas and the ability to work across R2R, P2P, O2C, Performance Management, Treasury and Tax, while integrating them into one coherent architecture.
- Strong sector depth across Insurance and Asset & Wealth Management, ideally with particular understanding of insurer economics, operating models and the interaction between Finance, investments, actuarial, capital, risk and operations.
- A consistent track record of shaping and leading complex, multi-tower Finance transformation programmes and delivering measurable client outcomes, with strong commercial discipline around scope, economics, risk and value.
- A proven people leader who has built teams, developed future leaders, coached and sponsored talent, and created a culture of high standards, collaboration, knowledge sharing and continuous capability development.
- A proactive growth leader with the drive to build new relationships, develop propositions, open new areas of demand and help scale Finance Solutions across I&AWM.
- Ideally combines Big Four / leading consulting experience with substantive industry experience, bringing both advisory discipline and practical understanding of how Finance operates inside a complex financial services organisation.
- Ideally a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), providing strong grounding in Finance alongside broader transformation, technology and operating model expertise.
