We support Tier 1 customers across the Mining, Oil & Gas, Infrastructure and Renewables sectors. With operations across Australia, Freo Group provides the opportunity to grow your career while contributing to some of the nation’s most significant projects.
What we’re looking for:
As Maintenance & Operational Excellence Manager, WA&NT, you will shape and lead a consistent maintenance approach across the region. Your focus will be on making maintenance safer, more planned and more commercially effective, while improving the reliability and availability of Freo Group’s heavy industrial fleet.
You will connect Fleet, Procurement, Operations, Branch Managers, HSEQ, Finance and senior leaders around clear priorities, practical standards and disciplined execution. This is an influential role for someone who can move confidently between strategic planning, operational detail and frontline leadership.
What you’ll bring to the team:
You are a credible, practical maintenance leader who builds trust quickly and brings people with you. You combine sound technical judgement with commercial awareness, strong planning discipline and a genuine commitment to developing others.
- Proven leadership experience across maintenance management, planning, reliability or asset management in heavy industry.
- A strong working knowledge of maintenance systems, planning and scheduling disciplines, and reliability-focused practices.
- Demonstrated success leading and developing supervisors, planners, technicians and maintenance teams.
- The ability to influence across operational and corporate functions, establish accountability and build productive partnerships.
- Confidence using maintenance data, reporting, systems and performance measures to identify priorities and guide decisions.
- A safety-first approach, supported by strong standards in quality, compliance, contractor management and risk.
- Strong organisational judgement, with the ability to balance immediate operational needs against long-term asset performance and cost.
- A relevant trade qualification and/or tertiary qualification in Business, Management, Leadership or a related field will be highly regarded.
What you’ll be doing:
This role is about creating visible, sustainable improvement. You will set the direction, establish the rhythm and support teams to embed disciplined maintenance practices across WA and NT.
- Develop and implement a structured regional maintenance strategy aligned with safety, operational and commercial priorities.
- Shift the maintenance function toward proactive preventive, predictive and corrective programs that reduce unplanned work.
- Improve the reliability, availability and lifecycle performance of cranes, prime movers and ancillary equipment.
- Lead, coach and build capability across maintenance planners, supervisors and technicians.
- Strengthen planning, scheduling, work-order quality, backlog management and forward visibility of maintenance activity.
- Oversee maintenance execution, major inspections, contractor performance and consistent maintenance standards.
- Partner with operational leaders so maintenance plans support customer commitments, branch priorities and asset availability.
- Support budgeting, cost forecasting and long-term capital replacement planning with clear, evidence-based insights.
- Use performance data to identify recurring issues, improve decision-making and drive practical continuous improvement.
- Build a culture where safety, accountability, teamwork, quality and operational excellence are evident in everyday decisions.
