Operating at the intersection of MarTech, software engineering, data platforms, and digital experience delivery, you'll help drive Sun Life's transition to a modern, composable, warehouse-native architecture powered by Snowflake, cloud-native technologies, and event-driven platforms.

What You'll Do?

Lead MarTech & Customer Engagement Engineering

• Define and execute the technical strategy for Sun Life's customer engagement and marketing technology platforms.
• Design and implement capabilities across customer data, audience management, journey orchestration, personalization, decisioning, and channel activation.
• Establish reusable platform patterns that drive scale across business lines.
• Champion composable and warehouse-native architectures that accelerate delivery and simplify operations.

Activate Customer Data at Scale

• Help establish Snowflake as the foundation of Sun Life's customer engagement ecosystem.
• Develop activation patterns that enable customer data to seamlessly power marketing, digital, service, and advisor experiences.
• Define customer data models, identity frameworks, event architectures, and integration standards.
• Deliver batch, near real-time, and real-time engagement capabilities.

Build Enterprise-Grade Platforms & Integrations

• Design APIs, microservices, and event-driven services connecting marketing, digital, and enterprise systems.
• Develop scalable integration patterns across SaaS platforms, core business systems, mobile applications, and web experiences.
• Leverage cloud-native technologies, event streaming, and platform engineering practices to improve efficiency and reusability.
• Ensure solutions are secure, resilient, observable, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.

Influence Enterprise Technology Direction

• Partner with Product, Marketing, Architecture, Data Engineering, and Agile teams to define platform roadmaps and strategic priorities.
• Lead architectural discussions and influence critical technology decisions.
• Evaluate build-versus-buy opportunities, manage technical debt, and identify modernization initiatives.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across teams and communities of practice.

Champion Engineering Excellence

• Establish best practices for DevSecOps, CI/CD, testing, observability, and release management.
• Drive automation and operational efficiencies across engineering teams and platforms.
• Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.

What You'll Bring?

MarTech Expertise

• Deep experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale MarTech solutions.
• Strong knowledge of: Customer Data Platforms (CDPs) Journey orchestration Marketing automation Personalization and decisioning Customer identity and consent management Omnichannel activation

Experience with platforms such as:

• Adobe Experience Platform (AEP) / Adobe Target
• Hightouch
• Salesforce Data Cloud
• Braze

Data & Platform Engineering

• Hands-on experience with Snowflake or modern cloud data platforms.
• Expertise in warehouse-native activation and composable architecture patterns.
• Strong understanding of customer data models, APIs, integrations, and event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with Kafka, streaming technologies, and modern data ecosystems.

Software Engineering Leadership

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including experience at a Staff, Principal, or equivalent technical leadership level.
• Strong hands-on experience with: Java / Spring Boot / Python JavaScript / TypeScript APIs and Microservices Docker and Kubernetes
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, cloud-native architecture, and engineering best practices.

Leadership & Communication

• Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business outcomes.
• Experience mentoring engineers and building high-performing technical teams.
• Proven ability to balance immediate delivery needs with long-term platform strategy.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
