Job Description:

We are currently seeking a QA Engineer to help us validate the data and analytical reporting solutions for the Global Technology Services (GTS) Control Tower team at State Street. The position performs a wide range of activities with experts from GTS, business intelligence, business analysis, data engineering, process engineering, governance, and data analysts to collaboratively solve a wide array of complex technical problems.

The GTS Control Tower team is an exciting and growing area of State Street with unique insight into the whole spectrum of our data, metrics, and dashboards at State Street. This name change reflects the work we are actively doing across GTS: integrating dependency management, business analysis, process design, and governance to transform data into action and keep remediation efforts flying smoothly.

The GTS Control Tower Mission:

Our core focus is on transforming data into actionable insights. Our goal is to enable GTS Leadership to accelerate progress against key strategic initiatives across GTS and to drive results.

Core Responsibilities:

ETL / Data Pipeline Testing: Validate end-to-end ETL/ELT pipelines built using Azure/Microsoft Fabric platformsValidate data movement across source, staging (Bronze/Silver), and consumption (Gold) layersEnsure correctness of data transformations, aggregations, and business rulesExecute data reconciliation testing between systemsValidate data completeness, duplicates, null values, and integrity checks

Report / Dashboard Testing (Power BI / Analytics Layer)Perform end-to-end validation of reports and dashboards built on semantic models (Power BI)Validate for: Data accuracy and consistency with backend sourcesKPI calculations, business logic, measures, and aggregationsFilters, slicers, drill-downs, and user interactionsPerform functional and UI validation of dashboardsEnsure data consistency between semantic layer and reports3

Test Planning & Execution: Create, maintain, and execute: Test plans, Test cases and test scriptsAutomation scripts (where applicable)Participate in STLC phases including requirement analysis, test design, execution, and closurePrepare test data and validate test scenarios

Defect Management & Reporting: Identify, log, track, and manage defects using tools such as JIRA, HP ALM, RTCCollaborate with development teams for resolution and retestingCommunicate testing progress, risks, and results to stakeholders

Agile & Collaboration: Participate actively in Agile ceremonies:: Sprint planning, Daily stand-ups, Sprint reviews and retrospectivesWork closely with Data Engineers and Business teams for requirement clarity and validation.

Requirements:

4 to 7 years of experience in QA / Testing roles.
Strong understanding of ETL / Data Warehouse testing and data validation.
Strong SQL expertise High attention to detail with focus on data quality and accuracy

Mandatory skills:

SQL (Advanced querying, analytical functions)

ETL / Data validation testing

Test management tools (JIRA / HP ALM / RTC)

STLC process understanding

Good to Have:

Exposure to Microsoft Azure and cloud data platforms.

Python

Understanding of Financial Services / Banking domain is highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience testing data pipelines and reporting solutions end-to-end.
Exposure to Microsoft Power BI / analytics platforms.
Ability to identify data quality issues proactively QA Certifications like ISTQB
