About Us

For over two decades, The Boundary has been at the forefront of digital excellence. With a global team of 150+ experts across London, New York, Dubai, and Auckland, we partner with the world's leading developers to deliver unparalleled architectural storytelling.

Founded by award-winning architects, our work sits at the intersection of design intuition and technical mastery. From pioneering digital twin infrastructure to the seamless integration of AI and real-time technology, we don’t just anticipate the future of the industry; we are already building it.

The Opportunity

Our Real-Time team is expanding, and we are looking for a Real-Time Artist dedicated specifically to our Exterior Digital Twin stream. Whether you are an emerging talent looking to accelerate your growth or an experienced artist seeking to push the boundaries of visualisation, we want to hear from you.

In this role, you will help bring large-scale developments, masterplans and entire destinations to life in Unreal Engine. The role combines artistry and technical problem-solving. You might be refining architecture and landscapes one day, then using the Digital Twin to create beautiful imagery, films and interactive experiences the next.

At our core, we are an architectural visualisation studio, and this shapes the visual quality and attention to detail we bring to Digital Twins. Our exterior work expands this approach to complete worlds, bringing together buildings, landscape, roads, vegetation, context and atmosphere into one convincing environment. We are looking for artists who genuinely enjoy working at that scale.

Location & Collaboration: Our work thrives on shared vision and in-person collaboration, making this a primarily office-based role in our Auckland studio (located in Freemans Bay). We offer flexibility for some hybrid work, but all applicants must either be currently based in Auckland, New Zealand, or prepared to relocate at their own expense. We are not accepting fully remote candidates at this stage.

Any application without a visual portfolio will not be considered.

What You'll Do

You will help transform architectural and geospatial information into interactive Digital Twins within Unreal Engine.

Your core responsibilities will include:

Digital Twin Creation: Turn complex source information into accurate, visually engaging and well-optimised real-time environments. Depending on the project, these environments may support design development, stakeholder engagement, marketing or sales.

Pipeline & Project Execution:Deliver projects within agreed timelines and budgets, collaborating closely with the Real-Time team and adapting smoothly to evolving designs and project requirements.

Visual Storytelling & Content Creation: Use the Digital Twin to create beautiful imagery, films and interactive experiences, applying strong lighting, composition and atmosphere to bring each project to life.

What You'll Bring

We are hiring across multiple experience levels, so we do not expect every applicant to have experience in every area.

Real-Time Experience: Experience with Unreal Engine and a good understanding of real-time rendering, scene construction and optimisation.

3D Production Skills: Proficiency in Autodesk 3ds Max or a comparable 3D package, with a solid understanding of modelling, materials, UVs and asset preparation.

Architectural Visualisation & World-Building: Experience in architectural visualisation is highly valuable.

An Eye for Environments: A strong sense of scale, composition, lighting, materials and atmosphere, particularly across exterior architecture, landscape or masterplan environments.

Technical Curiosity: An interest in understanding how complex scenes work, identifying problems and developing more efficient ways of doing things.

Accuracy and Attention to Detail: The ability to interpret architectural information and maintain spatial and visual consistency across a large environment.

Adaptability: Comfort working with evolving designs, varied source data and projects that may move between early design, marketing and sales.

Communication and Collaboration: The ability to explain problems clearly, self-check your work and collaborate with both creative and technical team members.
