Role Synopsis

We are seeking a Senior Development Systems Engineer to join our Corporate Land team. This individual contributor will bridge business operations and technical delivery, independently building scalable automation, data, and AI-enabled solutions while contributing to architecture, standards, and roadmap decisions. The ideal candidate is a strong hands-on engineer who can own complex workstreams, partner effectively with non-technical stakeholders, and deliver high-quality solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Key Accountabilities

  • Serve as a senior technical partner to Corporate Land and data teams, translating business requirements into practical, scalable technical solutions.
  • Lead hands-on design, development, testing, and deployment of automation workflows, data products, and AI-enabled tools that reduce manual effort and improve decisions.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines, queries, applications, and analytical products using Snowflake, Databricks, Palantir, and related platforms.
  • Apply established engineering standards for code quality, testing, documentation, observability, security, and deployment, and recommend improvements where needed.
  • Own complex workstreams and contribute to prioritization and roadmap development based on business value, feasibility, and dependencies.
  • Partner with stakeholders to refine requirements, evaluate technical tradeoffs, and deliver iterative solutions in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment.
  • Participate in solution design and code reviews, share technical knowledge, and provide practical coaching to analysts and business users.
  • Develop documentation, training materials, and user guidance that support adoption and sustainable ownership of new tools.
  • Monitor and optimize deployed solutions for performance, reliability, adoption, and cost efficiency.

Essential Experience and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in software development, data engineering, automation, analytics engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • Demonstrated experience independently delivering complex, production-grade data, software, automation, or AI solutions.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, with demonstrated ability to produce clean, maintainable, well-tested code.
  • Hands-on experience with modern cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or Palantir, including querying, data modeling, and performance optimization.
  • Solid understanding of data architecture, ETL/ELT, APIs, governance, security, CI/CD, and software development lifecycle practices.
  • Experience owning technical workstreams, contributing to solution design and code reviews, and supporting less-experienced contributors.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver in an ambiguous environment.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in the energy or oil and gas industry, particularly with land, ownership, contracts, leases, title, or related business processes.
  • Experience building internal applications, workflow tools, dashboards, or self-service analytics products.
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, LLM APIs, or deploying AI-enabled applications.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure and infrastructure-as-code concepts.
  • Experience with data orchestration and transformation tools such as Airflow, dbt, or Databricks Workflows.
  • Exposure to data orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt, Databricks Workflows).
  • Experience with oil and gas land ownership, contracts, leases, and other agreements is a plus.
