Senior IT Technologist Site Infrastructure & Operations

This position is based in South Africa and follows an on-site work model. Travel of approximately 25% is required, including domestic and international travel to support infrastructure operations, projects, and site activities.

The Senior IT Technologist, Site Infrastructure & Operations serves as a senior onsite infrastructure resource responsible for supporting and optimizing enterprise infrastructure environments. The role delivers advanced technical support across networking, compute, storage, backup, and end-user technologies while leading local infrastructure initiatives, coordinating vendors, and ensuring compliance with IT standards and security requirements.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

• Design, deploy, and document infrastructure solutions aligned with business, architectural, and compliance requirements.
• Support and optimize network infrastructure including routers, switches, wireless networks, firewalls, and site connectivity.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues through diagnostics, monitoring tools, log analysis, and performance assessments.
• Perform onsite infrastructure activities including hardware installation, rack and stack, cabling, configuration, and asset lifecycle management.
• Lead or support infrastructure projects across multiple sites, ensuring delivery against scope, milestones, and timelines.
• Coordinate vendors and service providers to support infrastructure maintenance, installations, and operational requirements.
• Maintain infrastructure reliability, capacity, performance, and security through upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, procedures, and operational support materials.orking, compute, storage, backup, cloud, and hybrid environments.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of IT infrastructure experience OR Advanced Diploma with 6+ years of IT infrastructure experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise networks, servers, storage, and backup technologies.
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex infrastructure incidents in enterprise environments.
• Experience with network technologies, enterprise systems, and infrastructure monitoring tools.
• Ability to perform onsite infrastructure work, including hardware installation, cabling, and equipment handling up to 23 kg.

Preferred Qualifications

• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification or equivalent networking certification.
• Experience with Cisco, Juniper, or Dell Technologies infrastructure platforms.
• Experience supporting cloud and on-premises data center environments.
• Experience with VMware vSphere, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM), Microsoft Intune, and PowerShell.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, structured cabling, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, audio-visual technologies, and unified communications solutions.
