Location & Flexibility

India Hybrid:

Ourteam at TELUS Digital. To help retain our deep culture of collaboration, this role will maintain an in-office presence in a hybrid capacity . This role can be located in Noida

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer with 7+ years of experience and strong hands-on expertise in Google BigQuery, SQL, Python, Apache Airflow, DAG development, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.

The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and supporting scalable data pipelines and data solutions on the Google Cloud platform. The role requires strong technical ownership, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work closely with engineering, business, and analytics teams.

Responsibilities

Strong hands-on experience with Google BigQuery.

Expertise in BigQuery SQL, partitioning, clustering, optimization, and performance tuning.

Experience designing scalable BigQuery data models and data warehouses.

Understanding of BigQuery cost optimization and workload management.

Strong proficiency in SQL.

Experience writing complex queries, joins, CTEs, window functions, aggregations, and stored procedures.

Strong understanding of relational databases and data modeling.

Ability to troubleshoot and optimize SQL queries.

Strong hands-on experience with Python for data engineering and automation.

Experience developing reusable, maintainable, and production-quality Python code.

Good understanding of exception handling, logging, testing, and package management.

Strong experience with Apache Airflow.

Hands-on experience designing, developing, scheduling, and monitoring Airflow DAGs.

Experience with task dependencies, operators, sensors, retries, alerts, scheduling, and failure handling.

Ability to troubleshoot and optimize Airflow workflows.

Strong understanding and hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines.

Experience automating build, testing, validation, and deployment of data pipelines and Airflow DAGs.

Experience with tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or equivalent

Strong understanding of DevOps principles and practices

Experience with Git-based development and branching strategies.

Experience with automated deployments, environment management, monitoring, logging, and release processes.

Exposure to Infrastructure as Code and cloud deployment practices is desirable.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

Bonus Points

Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services.

Experience with GCS, Cloud Composer, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, or other GCP data services.

Experience with dbt or similar data transformation frameworks.

Experience with REST APIs and SaaS data integrations.

Experience with data quality and data observability tools.

Knowledge of Docker/Kubernetes is a plus.

Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
