Project Information

Pilbara Ports Authority has awarded ACCIONA the wharf package at Lumsden Point in Port Hedland. The package is valued at around $220 million and covers piling, precast and in-situ concrete, earthworks and wharf services. It is the first stage of a new multi-user facility that will support critical mineral exports, renewable energy imports and general cargo.

About the Opportunity

You will supervise crews and subcontractors on the Lumsden Point wharf, reporting to the Superintendent. You will plan the work, direct the crews and keep safety, quality and program on track. The scope spans piling, precast, concrete, earthworks and wharf services, so you will build broad experience on one project. You will work with the engineering team on sequencing and risk, and make daily calls that keep work moving. You will link site teams and management, and resolve issues before they hit program or budget. This is hands-on leadership with real ownership of your work area.

Key accountabilities for the position will be:

  • Direct crews and subcontractors to deliver daily work safely and efficiently
  • Enforce safety and quality standards, and address non-conformances promptly
  • Apply ACCIONA procedures and permit requirements across your team and subcontractors
  • Ensure no temporary works change without engineering approval
  • Manage critical path items and adjust resources or sequencing to protect program
  • Monitor progress against program and report weekly to project leadership
  • Resolve site issues and build a respectful, inclusive team culture

Required Skills and Competencies

What capability and experience will you need to have:

  • Highly regarded: trade qualification in construction or building
  • Working knowledge of health, safety and environment requirements
  • Experience in a construction or engineering environment
  • Clear communication, with the ability to direct construction crews
  • Strong planning and problem solving across competing priorities

We provide opportunities for professional development, and our team members are encouraged to bring new ideas and approaches to their work.
