The ideal candidate understands Mexican payroll rules (CFDI nómina, IMSS, INFONAVIT, ISR), has strong ERP experience, and drives controls and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain payroll master data across HRIS/ERP/payroll systems (employee records, pay elements, accruals, deductions, garnishments, cost centers, tax codes, work schedules), ensuring accuracy and auditability.
  • Manage user access and segregation of duties for payroll systems; support onboarding/offboarding and periodic access reviews.

  • Implement and document master‑data change controls and approval workflows (new pay elements, policy changes, retroactive adjustments).
  • Perform payroll accounting: prepare/validate payroll journal entries, distribute payroll costs to GL, and provide supporting documentation for month‑end close.
  • Reconcile payroll to general ledger, bank payroll files, tax/social security deposits (IMSS/INFONAVIT/ISR) and third‑party vendor invoices; investigate and resolve variances.

  • Support audits and regulatory inquiries by maintaining audit trails, filing documentation and responding to requests from SAT/IMSS/INFONAVIT or internal/external auditors.
  • Drive continuous improvement: identify automation opportunities, reducing manual entries, and document procedures and controls.
  • Act as a liaison between Payroll, HR, Finance, IT and external vendors to ensure master data changes are implemented timely and correctly.
  • Respond to internal stakeholder inquiries related to master data and payroll accounting; implement corrective actions and preventive measures.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in payroll master data, payroll accounting, or payroll operations with Mexican payroll exposure (CFDI nómina, ISR, IMSS, INFONAVIT/AFORE).
  • Hands‑on experience with ERP/HRIS/payroll systems (examples: SAP HCM/Payroll or FI, Workday, Oracle, ADP localizations, Aspel NOI) and integrations.
  • Proven experience preparing payroll journal entries, GL reconciliations and month‑end close deliverables.
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Power Query); experience with SQL, Power BI/Tableau or reporting tools preferred.
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical skills and a methodical approach to data integrity and controls.
  • English intermediate or higher preferred for regional interactions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certifications (Contador Público, ACCA, SAP certification, payroll or accounting certifications).
  • Experience with payroll tax filings, CFDI generation and PAC coordination.
  • Prior experience in multi‑entity or multinational environments and multi‑currency accounting.
  • Familiarity with RPA/automation tools (UiPath, Power Automate) or scripting to reduce manual tasks.
